Don't let Iran follow Iraq's destiny
STOP THE WAR BEFORE IT STARTS!
Millions of people in Iran are anxious and troubled, as Bush threatens to start a new war. The U.S. and her allies are following a path of escalation that notably resembles their preparations prior to the invasion of Iraq. "Weapons of mass destruction" are, however, replaced with "nuclear weapons". The true motives of this aggressive politics are neither concerns regarding "nuclear weapons" nor "democratization", but have to do with the greed for oil and hegemony in the region. Any threat of a military attack will give the Iranian regime the excuse to oppress the struggle for democracy. We support the struggle of Iranian people for freedom: change by the people for the people.
We oppose any form of military intervention against Iran.
* A military attack - also in the form of a “precision bombardment” – will result in thousands of civilian casualties. In Iraq, since the start of the war on March the 20th 2003, more than 100,000 people have been killed.
* Following the wars against Iraq and Afghanistan, a new attack on Iran will further destabilize the already unstable situation in the Middle East.
* Foreign interference and applying a divide and rule policy will lead to ethnic unrest. It results in a vicious circle of violence, insecurity, and ultimately a civil war.
Please take a minute to read (and sign) our petition. Thanks for your support.

I did not understand how this petition will help?
I'm against the U.S. invading or occupieïng any country except their own, because the screw it up way bad. I dunno if foreign interference will lead to unrest amongst the people because that would depend on the manner in which it is done. ''Our'' dutch soldiers in Afganistan have not been targeted with suicide car bombs and a like. thusfar we are humane, maybe because we are not trained to just kill, we are trained to matter and act accordingly to any situation. And I guess it works :).
I did sign the petition though, it even got a dutch page which is cewl ^^
Hydra aziz, Eydet mobarak :D ishallah ke emsaal por az del khoshi barat bashe :)
Dear Kimia,
First of all, this petition helps to express our views. We are living in a society that has been exposed to several forms of war propaganda. The necessity of a military action/confrontation is being justified by all means available.
Furthermore, we attemp to clear that not all Iranians are pro-war. There are some members of the so-called "opposition" groups that believe war is the answer, and that freedom of our people lies in the hands of The U.S. We oppose that view.
Also, we would like to help building up a front against foreign brutality and aggression against Iran across national boundaries. I'm not sure if that will prevent an attack on Iran, but there is only one way to figure that out. If we don't do anything, or hesitate, because we doubt the efficacy of our actions, we may find ourselves being too late one day.

Hi Thomas,
I hear you, dude. I think Holland should have never participated in those nasty wars/occupation. And I hope the troops will return home soon.
The site was supposed to have Dutch and Farsi translations only. But you can't forget about the rest of the world. ;)
Well, dear hydra, I hope it is okay that someone from the US signed (I did, though not with my internet moniker). I share your fears, and I am deeply frustrated by my government's seemingly inexorable slide towards another "pre-emptive" invasion. I don't know if a petition will help, but I am pretty sure it won't hurt.
We know it, they know it & the world is well aware of the real reasons behind the so called Nuclear Ambitions...
IT is like the world is ready to C the lion take on the lamb on the pretext of having horn buds! :-S
So much for Civilization!!
Dear Hydra, Happy nu year. Wish U all the best.
Convinced
Hi Jarvenpa, Thanks for signing. Of course, it's all about people's ideas and not their nationality. This campaign is also not against American people. Cheers.
Hey Doc, Sometimes it's hard to decide who to believe. We are all stuck between two evils. Thanks.
I thank americans every day for the freedom they give my people. Its you iranians coming to my contry that makes me most mad.
I guess nabez is part of the other side of the coin :) or perhaps an (pro) american agency...., nah just the other side of the coin :)
Nabez, you call this freedom? You're country is in midst of a civil war. Wake up!!! Innocent Iraqi's are dying everyday. Is that security and peace? A third of your nation is not adequately represented in the parliament. Is that democracy? You'd better follow some serious news, pal!
Thomas :))
dear hydra,
it is Iran who is the aggressor. it is not the US.
