What’s been happening recently?

Well, for starters, Dr. Rice has assured the world community that the U.S. does not torture political detainees. It’s not really clear to me what she meant by “political detainees”. I thought “political detainees” only existed in countries where the human rights and freedom of speech are systematically violated. But the U.S.? Come one! Was the “home of the free” not the oldest democracy in the world? If Rice was talking about the Guantanamo prisoners, that’s even worse. First of all, it has been well-documented by independent observers that indeed torture methods are being applied in Guantanamo and similar places. Second, the Guantanamo detainees are not not officially political prisoners, nor are they classified by the U.S. government as “prisoners of war”. We all know why. The recognition of those people as “prisoners”, according to an existing legal definition, would automatically give them certain rights that prevent the U.S. to treat them they way it is doing now.

Another news: participating countries at the world conference on climate change agreed to negotiate a new treaty regarding the global warming. Of course, the U.S., being the asshole as usual, apposed the negotiations in advance.

I was watching MTV, and I learned that some celebrities buy diamond necklaces worth of 50,000 dollars……. for their dogs. When I was living in Tanzania, I could manage to live with two or three dollars a day, something the majority of Tanzanians cannot.

Ahmadinejad has, once again, created a commotion by his latest remarks about Israel. He has said that if Europe is so supportive of the state of Israel, why don’t Germany or Austria donate a few provinces to Israel so the Jewish state can “move” to Europe, instead of occupying Palestinian land. Although I found Ahmadinejad’s point extremely amusing, I seriously started to doubt whether this guy is not a total moron. Regardless of the truth about Israel, I don’t think a head of state should say things like this, without considering their consequences. He’s damaging his country and his statements do no good for the Iranian people.

I'm having a serious relationship problem. I don't know what to do, and feel like shit....

ah damn the world has become a place for the most ignorant!! & our president still doesn seem to miss any opportunity to stay on top of the news!!

not only he doesn't have the charisma Khatami had, he's also wierd as politician..he's a nice guy, maybe he should have stayed far from politics.no one would 've cared if an iranian university professor said something about Israel.i mean ,com'on,Pat Roberston wants to kill Chavez, and no one cares..even though he's as powerful as the president of the states..or maybe more.

I still haven't believed that he is our president, and I feel like laughing at his feats like they are brilliant jokes, and ignore the reality of them.
You forgot another recent happening which is not as important as the others but still.. Iran, Mexico, Portugal, Angola are in the same group in World cup.

Hi Omid, I'm telling you, this guy is committing political suicide. I'm not sure if he's fully aware what he's actually talking about.

Dear Foulla, I agree. I don't care if he's nice or not. Politics is not a profession for just anyone.

Hey Kimi, regarding that point, the difference between Bush and Ahmadinejad is not so great. They're both funny people. Hadi Khorsandi has made a nice joke on that: iranian.com/JahanshahJavid/2005/October/Hadi/index

There was also the crash issue, but I didn't wanna write about it.

Football wise, I believe Iran cannot make it to the next round. I predict a win against Angola, and a draw or loss against Mexico and Portugal.

Cheers all :)

i heard he's going to insure all the villagers by giving them shares of the oil revenues..isn'it nice;)..but is it really feasible?

Hydra said...

Yeah, what can I say? It's so unfeaible that I have to doubt his "good" intensions. Besides, it's just too old a trick to be taken seriously.

Hey Hydra,
NICE POST!

- There is torture in American politics and policies, but of course when it comes to non-Americans who they call “terrorists” in general, denying it by the US administration is nothing new, as the hypocrisy of the whole issue. You’re totally right when you say, they are doing it this way in order not to comply with the international law. Now the irony is that Americans want to know why the rest of the word hates them so much. I also heard that there are a few hidden prisons located around the world to keep and interrogating the so-called terrorists, which by the way they also deny. I hope you get a chance to see this new movie which is out this week and it’s called Syriana. I think you’d like it.

- The climate change conference was in Montreal last week and I heard the news. US don’t believe nor accept the Kyoto accord all together. Their main objection is that it would have negative consequences on their economy. However, they spend billions of dollars bombing and keeping Iraq occupied under their control. That’s also is another irony when they could spend that money on their own people and spread the democracy in a more democratic way.

- I’ve watched a couple of those celebrity biographies on MTV too. It’s pretty sad what they do with their money. Especially when folks are dying from thirst, hunger and disease. We should stop buying and supporting their movies and music to teach them a listen. I pick and choose whom I support lately.

- I heard about Ahmadinejad’s comment too. First of all let me tell you that I agree with you completely. Not only there is something very wrong with this guy; he’s not suited for the presidency position either. Unfortunately, Iran has been having this type of unqualified individuals running the show since, the revolution, which greatly explains the downward situation in Iran in general.

No relationship is perfect, but we need to make as much as effort as possible to make it a happy and successful one. Compromising and communication are the keys to success of any relationship. I feel you on this one! Make it work.

hello. I'm new to bloggspot.com &I just discovered your blog and i must say, i found it pretty interesting. And one thing about what you just said about rice, The reason that the US secretary of state attacks Iran is because she had her heart broken by a young man from Qazvin while they were students, (its true, haha).Keep on blogging

Dear Farzad,

Thanks buddy! I've heard of Syriana, and can't wait to see it. I just hope that they will play it in European theaters as soons as possible. Sometimes, we're a bit behind here.

I'm totally with you on the US enviornmental policy. Of course, it would affect their economy negatively. But hell, we are talking about the richest country in the world. If they don't wanna compromise, what can we expect from less privileged countries?

If you ever make a list of companies or individuals to boycott, let me know. ;)

Don't let me start again on Ahmadinejad. This guy gets so much on my nerves, you can't imagine....

Finally, thanks for your personal message. We're working on it. It's always nice to hear comforting words from friends who care.

Hi Moji,

Thanks for your comment and welcome aboard. Ha ha, I didn't know Rice had a connection with Qazvin. Man, these Qazvini people are all pain in the ass.... :)

Did you know that Condi Rice had an Italian root? She's a relative of Marco "Polo".... hahaha

What do you mean, mohammadreza?

Dr O2 said...

dear Hydra is the word THINKING defined for this charector ;-) Well this guy has no idea what is the diff between being a president & a dogmatic Basiji! I would like to ask the ones who have voted for this guy if they still prefer the stupid rather than the thief ;-)
---

Anyways it seems this mr. Clean wants to become the most popular Iranian president to date by showing up on CNN & BBC on daily bases :-S

---

P.S: You have been posting less these days mate. Don keep us waiting for long :-)

Dear Hydra,
I agree that you have been posting less often lately...we miss it!
In Europe we have the italian prime minister who has little brain cells left after selling those to the mob and in Iran you have another bloke that has done the same...only not to the mob...
But us italians owe the americans so we're safe on their side right now! We are always on the wrong side...
About the rest...I agree with you so I do not think any unnecessary comments are necessary!
What kind of relationship problems...
Hope to see you soon!

Dear Omid and Diana, thanks for your encouragement. I've been quite busy lately, and feeling less inspired. I'll try to write more frequently.

Omid, well I guess some people who voted for him, really believe in his stories. But I can't imagine that the MAJORITY of the Iranian voters agree with this guy ideologically. Yet, he got the majority of votes....

Diana, nice to have you back on the blog. You know I have a lotta respect for Italians, and Italy is certainly better at football than Iran, but regarding "political idiocy", you guys don't even get anywhere near us. So don't even try to compare, cause it would be your downfall.... ;)
Yeah, it's been ages. I'll call you soon.
relationship wise, we have a lotta communication shit to work on. We've decided to see a therapist.
